When I call the mobigator sim from my mobile it rings and then I get a tone similar to 'busy tone' but one short and one long tone repeating. I have configured setting to recieve calls from any number with no difference - any suggestions?

I am using MGSip - I am guessing the equvalent is Settings > |Redirect only to| ... and no it is not enabled (ie checkbox is clear)
For MG SIP this is the normal "ready to dial" signal.
If you don't like it, change it:
\Program Files\EuroDesign\MobiGaterSIP\Sounds\PickUp.wav
ok thanks ... now have tried all combinations when calling but I can't seem to get the MG to dial the sip number - the 'ready' tone just continues. I thought it may be that my mobile wasn't sending through the DTMF so I tried from another fixed phone - same result. Is the number of digits between the star '*' and ending '#' significant?? when previously using my sip account if dialling a number in the same location as the DID number of the sip account I did not require country or area code! (I have tried both cominations though)

Available dialings are:
*00x...x#
*000y...y#
*z...z#
* is clearing all digits sent before star
# is dial the sent digits
- with two zeros (00) is international format, like
ex. number +123456, have to be dialed *00123456#
- with three zeros (000) is ignoring them and dial the rest, like
ex. number 552, can be dialed *000552#
ex. number 0698765, can be dialed *0000698765#
- other dialings are handle as speed-dials, look Contact menu
ex. if speed-dial 5 and sip number 123, can be dialed *5# and the call will be to 123
Look in |Advanced| tab is "C-Media USB ..." sound card is set on both places.
Success ...!!!
to summarise in a different way:
between the '*' and the '#' if the number you normally dial with your SIP provider starts with:
'+' replace it with '00'
'0' precede with '000'
and for speed dial just put the speed dial number

Yes. if the number is in international format (ex. +123456789), replace + with 00.
No, if the number is not in international format (ex. 012346, ex. 555), add three zeros (000) before the number 0000123456, 000555.
